Scripture References: Leviticus 23:15-21; Deuteronomy 16:8-12: John 20:15; Joel 2:28; Acts 2:17
According to the fifty day and seven sabbath count after the waving of the sheaves, 5/19/2013 (i think i have it right now) is Shavu’ot or what is commonly called the day of Pentecost. While we know that the Master Yahushua is the sacrifice that ended all sacrifices, we still honor the day according to the law of Yah in Leviticus 23:15-21.
I mentioned that I think I have the date right now because my first publish had 5/16/2013 as the date. However, I had forgotten that the count was from the waving of the sheaf offering and not Passover.
Significance Of Sheaf Waving Event
The waving of the sheaf symbolized the first fruits of the first grain harvest which was barley. According to sources in Israel, wild barley grows all over the Set-Apart Land.
The high priest would wave the sheaf offering before Yah, and the act signalled the beginning of barley harvest for the people. Yah commanded the people to remember the poor at this time and not harvest the corners of their fields but leave them for the poor.
Importance Of Sheaf Waving Timing
The waving of the sheaf offering was also significant because I believe that it was one of the first acts that the Master Yahushua performed after his resurrection. He was sacrificed on Passover and rose again on the third day. The morning after the high Sabbath, which is the third day after Passover, is the waving of the sheaf offering.
John 20:15 states that Mary saw a man that she thought was the gardener.
Yahushua saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. John 20:15
I believe (just my thoughts) that the Master Yahushua had picked barley to conduct the waving of the sheaf ceremony making Him appear to Mary as being a “gardener.”
I may be reading more into the account than I should but… He would have performed the sheaf waving ceremony not as a high priest after the order of Aaron but after the order of Melchizedek.
Feast Of Weeks: A Shadow Of Things To Come
Please take time to read about this feast and pray for the day of the outpouring of Yah’s Spirit on everyone according to Joel 2:28 and Acts 2:17.
I hope you enjoy Yah’s feast day and find fellowship to rejoice about the great things He has done for you!
Shalom in the Master Yahushua!
P.S. – When I published this post. WordPress reminded me that this was my 50th post. Talk about irony! Be blessed.
