SO JUST WHEN IS THE 7TH DAY?

Scripture References: I Samuel 20:5; John 11:9; John 9:4; Genesis 7:11; Genesis 8:3,4; Revelation 11:3;Daniel 7:25; Revelation 13:5

I received a comment from a gentleman named Oliver that simply asked, “so just when is the 7th day.” Here is what I’ve picked up on my journey…i’m still open to the Ruach ha Kodesh making clarifications, though and you should be as well.

The New Moon as a Marker

I believe that the seventh day is seven days after the sighting of the new moon each month. I am still learning about this, and I am not an astronomer. However, several scriptures indicate that the new moon was a marker for the beginning of months in ancient Hebrew culture just as the new moons are used (loosely) by the rabbis of Judaism today to mark the Levitical feast days in modern times. Consider the scriptures afterJonathan and David entered into an eternal covenant with each other in I Samuel 20:5…David said, “Behold, tomorrow is the new moon…let me go so that I can hide myself until the third day at evening.” This indicates that the new moon marked the first day of the month and David was going to hide until after the third day had passed which by the way ended at evening. I do not believe that the Most High kept two calendars that had a saturday sabbath as the seventh day of the week as well as one that counted days by the beginning of months so that the seventh day would fall on another day such as wednesday.

What Constitutes a Day?

I also believe that the day begins at sunrise and ends at sunset. Remember the scripture in John 11:9 when the Master asked “aren’t there 12 hours in a day?” Understanding the culture is critical when looking at this. The ancient Hebrews didn’t have electric lights to work during the evening. The evening hours were for sleeping so the sabbath day did not apply during that time because they weren’t usually working during those hours anyway. Consider John 9:4 when the Master said that – “As long as it is day we must do the work of Him who sent me because the night comes when no man can work.” Of course those scriptures have deeper spiritual significance than telling time, but the Master was speaking to His folks in ways that they could understand. He spoke to them within the context of their culture.

Cosmic Time Changes

Also, I believe that something happened to change the time since ancient times. Scriptures indicate that there were 30 days in a month and 360 days in a year (same degrees in a circle-coincidence? likely not!). Consider the account of Noah’s Flood. Genesis 7:11 says that the rain started on the 17th day of the second month and ended on the 17th day of the seventh month in Genesis 8:4 which equals 5 months. The scriptures confirmed in Genesis 8:3 that the waters dried up from the land fully after 150 days; using a 30 day calendar month it is exactly 5 months. Also the two witnesses are said to prophesy for 1260 days in Revelation 11:3; this is exactly 3.5 years when using a 30 day calendar. Daniel 7:25 describes the time of great tribulation for the saints as a time, times and half a time which equates to 3.5 years which is the same 42 months that are recorded as the time of the beast’s rule on earth in Revelation 13:5. The same time measurements that were used by Daniel were also used when the apostle John wrote the book of Revelation.

What Other Bible Scholars Had to Say…Besides ‘She’s a Lunatic’

I’ve heard other commentary against following the appearance of the new moon because the moon is symbolic of a woman (which is true in many instances); the person wanted to make sure people were following a man – the Son of Man i hope! They said that the moon is unpredictable (just like a woman) because it can appear every 29 or 30 days which makes it unreliable for prophecy time tables. This is only partially true. I’ve also noticed that it can be “late” by up to two days. However, I still do not believe that the modern 365 day, solar calendar was used by the Most High from the beginning; I believe that He used the sun to mark off individual days, but the moon began the months (both of these celestial bodies worked together as servants to complete a time keeping mission for the Most High). Based upon the scriptures that I have listed, the moon appeared every 30 days in ancient times.

End Times by Divine Design

Commentators also said that the moon does its own thing (like a female- ha ha) which is another reason why its unreliable for end time prophecy time lines. However, I believe that the moon’s seemingly unpredictable nature in these end times is by Divine design. This is why the Son will come like a thief in the night, and no one will know the day or the hour for the end of the age because the moon’s appearance is being directed by the Most High. For example, I had a dream where an adult female spirit who had a body was standing guard over a room where mostly childlike spirits in bodily form were eating and congregating (children of the bride chamber if you will). The adult female spirit was standing right outside of the chamber and wanted urgently to enter the room and lock the door behind her. However, as she was about to enter an arm came across her midsection and blocked her entrance. Immediately, a small boy who looked to be of African descent came barrelling around the corner, nearly running the woman down to enter into the chamber. He slipped into the chamber just ahead of her. I believe the moon responds to the Most High’s promptings to stay hidden, withdraw and appear just like the female spirit in the dream.

Oliver, I hope this post sort of clarifies the question about the seventh day. At the very least, I hope that it will prompt you to keep studying and seeking the Most High about the true calendar. I am still learning and seeking the Most High’s guidance as well so when you get additional revelation on the matter be sure to share it by making contact again.

Shalom in the Master !
